About us…
When you attend your first meeting at JP Bookkeeping & Tax Services Inc. it is very evident that Joanne Pilon believes strongly in teamwork.
Joanne is always willing to help businesses of all sizes find ways of maximizing their potential, and she truly believes that one of the best investments in any business is to find the right bookkeeper.
Our service does not end with the preparation of your income tax return, we provide you with year-round tax support. We even help you respond to CRA inquiries. We keep a copy of supporting documents in our office, so we are able to respond quickly and accurately to CRA’s request for documents and send you a copy for your record.
The difference between a good bookkeeper and a better bookkeeper is not the software they use but the professional knowledge and experience that they have. I have seen it far too many times with clients coming to me and saying “I had a bookkeeper, but my files are a mess!” or “I cannot understand what they are doing”. Having expertise, experience, professionalism, and competent people on your team is a valuable and worthwhile investment in yourself and your company for sustainability and future growth. Having the correct financial procedures and cash management methods in place, based on analytic reports and regular health checks, is just part of having a proven bookkeeping system and what the JP Bookkeeping & Tax Services Inc. system provides.
Indeed, when a new potential client sets up their first meeting, the “team approach” is definitely evident. “My Office Manager, Ann Boll, is also my senior bookkeeper. Together we have over 75 years of experience. So, when the first meeting, which is free by the way, is arranged, we both attend the meeting with the potential client,” Joanne stated.
By having both Ann and Joanne attend the first meet, it has been found that their “two heads” are better able to understand the needs of the potential client. “We can listen to the prospect and then let them know what we can do to help. We don’t spend our time telling the client what we are capable of doing. We listen first and then suggest what we feel will best meet their needs.”

Meet our team…
From left to right: Mimi Hannant-Steffler (Reception), Ann Boll (Senior Bookkeeper/Office Manager), Joanne Pilon (Owner, Certified Professional Bookkeeper), Todd Parisee (Junior Bookkeeper)
Background
Joanne Pilon is a Certified Professional Bookkeeper who has over 40 years of experience in the profession. She began her own practice as an independent consultant in 1997, working out of her home office for about seven years, before her client base grew to the point where she needed to open a larger store-front location. She eventually established Sudbury East Bookkeeping & Tax Services Inc. on Barrydowne Road in Sudbury, where her practice grew in size and reputation across the entire City of Greater Sudbury.
In 2019 she sold her practice to MNP, one of Canada’s leading professional service companies and remained employed as Manager of their bookkeeping division in Sudbury.
By 2021, Joanne felt that it would be better for her, both professionally and personally, to go back to operating as an independent consultant, where she would be able to provide a wider range of individualized services to her clients. That was when she formed JP Bookkeeping & Tax Services Inc.
After working out of her home office for about three years, Joanne has once again found the need to move into a larger space in order to accommodate her ever growing client base. She is now open in what she describes is a perfect location at the entrance to Norm’s Plaza, in Val Caron, and has space to expand as her business grows.
JP Bookkeeping & Tax Services Inc. offers clients the full spectrum of bookkeeping and tax services. The team of professionals can provide high quality services to large and small businesses, not-for-profit organizations and to local farms. The new office includes a small consultation room where she is able to meet with individual clients, and it also contains a larger conference room to accommodate training and other activities. Each of the professionals has their own office and there is a comfortable, spacious waiting area for clients.
The current team includes; Joanne Pilon, Owner/Certified Professional Bookkeeper; Ann Boll, Senior Bookkeeper / Office Manager; Todd Parisee, Bookkeeper, and; Mimi Hannant-Steffler, Admin. Assistant. They may soon be adding an additional bookkeeper in the near future as their client numbers continue to increase.
Besides providing for the needs of individual clients in the areas of general bookkeeping and tax services, Joanne is also looking forward to doing more consulting and training in order to help business owners take on more responsibility for some of their own bookkeeping as well. She feels that if she can show people how to be more efficient on a day-to-day basis with respect to bookkeeping, it will help them better understand how their business is doing and even make it easier for her to oversee.
New clients appreciate the unique approach that has been adopted by JP Bookkeeping & Tax Services Inc. when they receive a request from someone for information about their practice. When a potential client books their first “free consultation” information meeting, both Joanne and Ann meet with the person. Joanne and Ann have a combined 75 years of experience in the field, so having both of them involved in the initial meeting better serves the needs of both the potential client and JP Bookkeeping & Tax Services Inc.
During this first meeting, Joanne and Ann listen carefully to make sure they understand the current status and future needs of the potential client. Together, Joanne and Ann are able to explain how they can satisfy the needs of the client and from there all parties can decide if they are a “good fit”. This policy of customizing the service level for each individual client is what is most impressive to newcomers.
Joanne especially likes working with new start-up businesses. She helps establish the right procedures in the beginning so that the business owner has less of a chance of doing anything wrong or improper. She also has dealt with many business owners who have come to her after they tried to handle everything themselves. Some of these situations are challenging, but eventually, everything can be straightened out and put back in order.
JP Bookkeeping & Tax Services Inc. takes care of the filing of taxes for clients, and, when necessary, will meet with representatives from the CRA during audits.
If you would like to set up an initial meeting, free of charge, all you need to do is contact Mimi, who will find a time that is mutually agreeable. The first meeting will be 30 to 60 minutes in length and will give everyone a good indication of the services that can be provided.
